What documents are needed to rent in Sweden

For a first-hand rental contract

  • personnummer (Swedish identification number)
  • employment contract
  • proof of sufficient income

Some landlords may require a guarantor if they consider your income is too low.

For a second-hand rental contract

  • personnummer (Swedish identification number)
  • employment contract
  • proof of sufficient income

Some landlords may require a guarantor if they consider your income is too low.

It is important to check that the second-hand leasing has been approved by the original landlord. Some landlords do not allow second-hand leasing, or may want to vet the second-hand tenant themselves. If you end up being in violation of this, you may be evicted.
